Citroën and Amy Gillett Foundation

Citroën Australia is proud to be partnering with Australia’s leading cycling safety organisation, the Amy Gillett Foundation.

We will be supporting the Foundation as the National Brand Ambassador, as well as the Naming Rights Partner, of the Amy’s Great Ocean Gran Fondo held in Lorne on the 9 - 10th September.

The Amy Gillett Foundation has been a driving force for change in regard to Australian road and cyclist safety for over fifteen years, and so it is great pride that we are starting our journey together.

Whether driving a vehicle or riding a bike, we all must play our part in looking after the wellbeing of all road users. At Citroën we  recognise it takes the broader education, support and commitment from all community members to achieve this shared goal.
Towards zero cyclist fatalities

The Amy Gillett Foundation was established in 2005 following the death of Amy Gillett, who was killed by a driver on 18 July 2005 while cycling in Germany with the Australian women’s cycling team.

The Foundation has evolved to become the leading cycling safety organisation in Australia, driven by a core mission to reduce the death and injury of cyclists.

The Amy Gillett Foundation works with all levels of government, road authorities, corporate, motoring, cycling and community safety organisations and the public to create a safer environment for cyclists in Australia.

It also promotes actions to make cycling safer in Australia, such as:

  • a metre matters laws across Australia, to make sure drivers pass cyclists safely
  • safer vehicles and safer speeds
  • investing in cycling infrastructure
  • educating cyclists to respect and obey road laws and be safe and responsible road users
  • teaching drivers how to share the road safely with bicycles, including during driver education
